Title: Minimal nilpotent orbit of type D

Abstract: In this talk I will first explain the well-known Hamiltonian reduction construction of the closure of the minimal nilpotent orbit O_min in so(2n,C). Then I will present Kostant’s theorem on highest weight varieties and show that in the above special case, there is an interpretation of Kostant’s theorem via Hamiltonian reduction. Next I will prove the closure of O_min is isomorphic to the affinization of T^*(SL(2n+2)/[P,P]) where P is certain parabolic subgroup of SL(2n+2). If time permits I will also explain conjectures on generalizations of the above results.
