Title: Algebra, geometry, and topology of pointed trees of projective spaces

Abstract:  About 20 years ago, Chen, Gibney and Krashen introduced beautiful algebraic varieties parametrizing "pointed trees of projective spaces"; these varieties generalize the celebrated Deligne-Mumford compactifications of moduli spaces of genus zero curves with marked points. I shall discuss several natural questions of operad theory related to these spaces and explain answers to these questions; this could be simultaneously viewed as a way to motivate operad theory and as a way to use it to uncover new phenomena in adjacent research areas. This is based on joint work with Eduardo Hoefel, Sergey Shadrin and Grigory Solomadin.
