摘  要：Operads have been in use for a half century.  They encapsulate algebraic structures in an elementary fashion and apply in topology, algebra, math physics and other areas.  It has very very recently been noticed that there is a different, but equally elementary and general operadic kind of structure, a multiplicative operad, abbreviated ``moperad''.  They lead to bioperads, which encapsulate the kinds of structure we see in rings, with sums and products related by distributivity laws.  I will explain what these new structures are and what they are good for.
